The Allen-Bradley 22B-B017N104 is an Adjustable Frequency AC drive from the PowerFlex 40 drive product family. This drive which is also called as Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) and Variable Speed Drive (VSD) features a 3-phase, 200 to 240 VAC input voltage circuitry. It delivers output voltage, current and power of 200 to 240VAC, 3-phase,17.5 A Amperes 3.7 Kilowatt or 5.0 HP, respectively.

This device is provided with support for a variety of communication ports and protocols such as RS485, RS232, BacNet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Ethernet I/P, Lonworks and Profibus DP. This ensures maximum inter-operability, connectivity and integration to higher level control systems.

This Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) also comes with I/O channels that permits hardwiring of external input and output device to enable remote operation. These I/O channels are composed of Three (3) fixed inputs allocated for Start / Stop / Reverse inputs, Four (4) programmable inputs that can be assigned to motor related function. Integrated Analog Input and Output that can accept 0 to 10VDC or 4 to 20 mA signals and discrete Outputs in the form of opto-coupler and Normally Open and Closed contacts.

The 22B-B017N104 is provided with a Human Interface Module (HIM) that is mounted to the device front panel. This HIM allows local configuration, operation and monitoring of the drive. It may also be used to bypass, disable and enable remote access and operation commands to the drive. This drive does not have an integral AC filter. This component must be installed separately.

Enclosed in an open panel mount as its protective enclosure, the 22B-B017N104 can connect to pocket PCs, laptops, or desktop computers equipped with Bluetooth for communication. It can also connect to any Allen-Bradley product that supports the DSI protocol.

The 22B-B017N104 is capable of Sensorless Vector Control (SVC) sensor vector control and it functions with integral support for communication protocols such as PROFIBUS DP, LonWorks, DeviceNet, EtherNet/IP, and ControlNet networks. In addition, this type of PowerFlex 40 drive must be operated at an ambient temperature of 14-122°F. The 22B-B017N104 has a fixed keypad Human Interface Module (HIM). The 22B-B017N104 must be installed with branch circuit protection composed of a fuse with a 30A rating and Allen-Bradley recommended magnetic contactor 140M-F8E-C25 for motor protection. This type of frequency AC drive releases 150 Watts of energy in external losses and 30 Watts in internal losses. Along with a controller with a 2-16 kHz carrier frequency range, the 22B-B017N104 is part of the standard group of drives. Furthermore, it must be stored in an environment with a relative humidity range of 0-95%, non-condensing.
