The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1719 Ex I/O series is an intrinsically safe series of distributed I/O platforms that help to integrate devices in hazardous environments by using an EtherNet/IP connection. To provide easy configuration and maximum efficiency in a limited space, the 1719 Ex I/O platforms allow for tight integration with integrated architecture in a chassis-based, compact I/O layout. The 1719 Ex I/O platforms are certified to be used in Zone 2 or Class I, Division 2 mounting environments. Also, the easy configuration process provides add-on profile support in the RSLogix 5000 V24 software. Additionally, the chassis-based, compact design of these platforms allows the power supplies to be contained on the chassis. Other products that can be used with the platforms include a DLR adapter and optional power supply redundancy and the HART 7 support standard on all analog modules.


When used in a Zone 2 or Class I, Division 2 environment, the 1719 Ex I/O platforms support I/O modules such as a 4-channel RTD input, a 4-channel thermocouple input, an 8-point digital input NAMUR, a 2-point digital output 23 Volts, a frequency counter, and a 2-point digital output of 16.5 Volts. For accessories, the 1719 Ex I/O platforms accommodate a DC power supply, a 22-slot base chassis, a 6-pole screw terminal, a 6-pole spring terminal, a 1-meter chassis expansion cable, a 2 x  8-pole spring terminal, and an empty slot cover. The Allen-Bradley 1719 Ex I/O platforms support an operating surrounding temperature range from a minimum of -20 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 60 degrees Celsius. The platform’s storage temperature range is rated between -25 degrees Celsius and 80 degrees Celsius. The 1719 Ex I/O platforms have their ambient non-condensing relative humidity rated between 5 and 95%. When installing the Allen-Bradley 1719 Ex I/O module, it is important to avoid harsh and corrosive atmospheres and to avoid installing and using it polluted or damaged components. It is also important to ensure that all the seals and screws are correctly fitted and tightened and that the cables have the appropriate size and that they are tightened with the appropriate torque as well.
