The Allen-Bradley 1719-OB2 module is a digital type of industrial output module. It has been designed and manufactured as part of the Allen-Bradley 1719 Ex I/O series. The 1719-OB2 digital output module has 2 output channels which are independent and it can be used for driving LEDs, sounders, or solenoids in a system. When this digital output module is used in a safety application, its output can be switched off remotely through a contact, and its intrinsically safe outputs are galvanically isolated from its power supply and bus. The 1719-OB2 digital output module can operate with either positive or negative logic, and the logic is user-selectable.

The 1719-OB2 is an Allen-Bradley device. It is an Ex I/O digital module using 2 points. It comes with 2 independent channels and runs with a 23 Volts voltage supply. It belongs to the Bulletin series of I/O modules by Allen-Bradley. This module is used to drive solenoids, LEDs, and sounders. These I/O stations modify signals and play the role of an interface to help signals communicate between control systems and field devices. An Ethernet IP adapter is used as an interface between the I/O modules and the process control systems. The 1719-OB2 has different components attached to its body. It comes with various field connection ports and ports that can be used for extensions too. There is a service interface located with the extension cable port. The module uses unshielded squared wires which are 0.14 to 0.15 millimeters in size. The installation of this module can only be done in Zone 2 or Class I, Division 2 areas and it can have vertical or horizontal mounting in Zone 2 areas.
The 1719-OB2 comes with a wide range of features. It has selectable positive or negative logic. It comes with line fault detection, with a single LED attached per channel. It is a self-monitored device and it can also be configured in its high current mode. The output of the device is bus-independent. The module can also be exchanged under voltage even when the area is non-hazardous. The 1719-OB2 supports the HART field as a communication protocol. HART is widely accepted in most industries as a standard feature for enhanced digital communication with microprocessor-enabled smart field devices. The backplane enclosure of the module has been rated as an IP20 enclosure. It is a compact-sized device and it has dimensions of 1.26 x 3.9 x 4 inches. It has been built to run in environmental conditions outlined in the ISA-S71 or security level G3 standards. It needs an environment with non-condensing humidity for proper operation.
