The 1719-OB2L is an I/O module manufactured by Allen-Bradley. It is an EX I/O with 2-point digital outputs with modules each rated at 16.5 Volts. The module runs with a 24 Volts power supply. This module comes from the Bulletin family of the Allen-Bradley I/O modules. Two separate channels are available in this variant. It can be used to operate a range of devices from LEDs to solenoids. For communication purposes, an Ethernet IP adapter is present. It also acts as an interface for process control systems and modules. It allows horizontal or vertical mounting in Zone 2 or Class 1 areas and it is used to integrate other devices in extreme environments via the Ethernet IP interface. The 1719-OB2L has a compact, chassis-based design. The power supply comes inside the chassis. Due to its compact size, it can also perform well in a small space with a higher level of efficiency. It supports the top-of-the-line industry standard communication protocol called the HART 7 protocol.
Using HART 7, enhanced communication is possible and smart field devices can be connected and communicated with by using it. It uses the backplane bus for communication. The backplane is rated IP20 for protection. The 1719-OB2L has a power consumption of 3.9 Watts and a power dissipation of 3.9 Watts. Communication is achieved with an RJ45 front connector and it has transfer rates of 10 Mbps full duplex, 100 Mbps full duplex, and 50 Mbps half duplex. A few precautions should be taken during the installation of the module. The 1719-OB2L is sensitive to electrostatic discharges and the presence of these charges can damage the internal parts of the device and affect the overall working process. The module weighs 150 grams and it has dimensions of 1.26 x 3.9 x 4 inches. It needs a 95% humid (non-condensing) environment to operate properly and it should be kept in a shielded enclosure when it is not in use.
