About 1719-PSDC

The Allen-Bradley 1719-PSDC is a DC Power Supply Module for EX Distributed I/O Systems. It is a part of the distributed I/O system philosophy in which this module gives 24 Volts DC voltage to the I/O modules through a backplane connection. This module can be used exclusively as a part of the Allen-Bradley 1719 distributed I/O system, and it must only be used together with the corresponding backplanes. The power consumption of the 1719-PSDC depends on the number of modules that it supplies. Its power dissipation is around 15% of the power consumption value. The users can install more than 1 of these modules inside of the chassis, keeping in mind that one 1719-PSDC can output up to 30 Watts if the chassis is installed in a zone 2 (Class I, Div 2) area or it can output up to 45 Watts if the distributed unit is mounted in a safe area. If the users install more than 1 power supply module in the chassis, then because they use the parallel connection, the load will be equally distributed between these power supply modules.

The users need to make sure to calculate the power consumption of the I/O modules inside of the distributed I/O system carefully to avoid an overload situation in the Allen-Bradley 1719-PSDC power supply unit. This can easily happen in the startup phase if the users have a large number of certain I/O modules. The module that carries the greatest risk for a startup overload is the Allen-Bradley 1719-IF4HB 4-channel I/O module. Do not install more than 8 of these units in any Bulletin 1719 chassis. The operating temperature range for the device is -20 to 60 degrees Celsius (-4 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit).
