The Allen-Bradley 1791-OA32 is a Compact block I/O module. It is a high-density output module with integrated Thirty-Two (32) discrete output channels. This module is rated 20-132VAC and current of 300 mA. The 1791-OA32 is a slave device that functions like a Distributed I/O station. It has a built-in adapter capability, supporting Remote I/O (RIO) protocol and compatible communicating with RIO scanners in the network.

Allen-Bradley Block I/O modules are compact devices that comes with built-in power supply, programmable controller interface, input/output terminals and signal conditioning electronic circuitry. These I/O modules are cost-effective module that support vertical and horizontal mounting. Block I/O modules, including the 1791-OA32 are compatible with a variety of processors and controllers such as 1771-SN and 1772-SD / 1772-SD2 from the PLC-2 family; Any PLC-3 scanner module and 1775-S5, or -SR5 module from the PLC3 family; PLC-5VME (6008-LTV)

The 1791-OA32 has Four (4) groups of Eight (8) output channels each. Power connections are wired though terminals L1 (1), N (3) and GND (2) while Remote I/O (RIO) connections are made via terminals with designation BLU (6), CLR (8) and SHD (7). These terminals are located on the left-side terminals.

The 1791-OA32 is capable of energizing a wide variety of output devices. Some of these devices include motor starters, solenoid actuated devices, indicators, signaling devices and other electrical loads. The 1791-OA32 has a maximum surge current or inrush current rating of 10A / 1200 Watts and maximum holding current of 300mA/36 Watts at 60oC (600mA/72 Watts at 30 Deg. C).

This block I/O can be operated easily through its programmable controller interface. The block I/O offers a complete I/O interface that includes the functionality of an adapter and I/O rack. Open the front cover of the 1791-0A32 when setting the I/O rack number. The front cover is also the access point for the I/O group switch assembly. There are also status indicators located on the front cover of this 1731-0A32 module which provide you with information during the troubleshooting process. This 1791-0A32 module has internal protection along with an interior power supply.

The operational temperature for this I/O module must remain between 0 to 60 degrees Celsius. The standard operating voltage for this 1791-0A32 I/O module is 120 Volts AC. Be sure to consider the continuous current specifications for any device you intend to connect to the 1791-0A32 Output Module. There are two types of mounting for this module, vertical mounting, and horizontal mounting. When the 1791-0A32 module is mounted vertically, it has a maximum output rating of 600 milliamps operating at 30 degrees Celsius or 300 milliamps, when operating at 60 degrees Celsius. For horizontal mounting, this block has a maximum output rating of 300milliamps when operating at 30 degrees Celsius or 150 milliamps, when operating at 60 degrees Celsius.
