The 1791-OA32 module is a block I/O module that has been designed and manufactured by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation. This block I/O module consists of a discrete block I/O that includes 32 outputs so that different equipment can be connected to it and share a single network. The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1791-OA32 block I/O module is a self-contained device with its own power supply, a programmable interface, different connection options, and circuits that provide a means to send and receive different kinds of signals. The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1791-OA32 block I/O module is fully compatible with the Allen-Bradley PLC-2, 3, and 5/250 families of programmable controllers. It can also be used with the Allen-Bradley SLC 5/02 modular controllers. Depending on the kind of device, these external devices can either be attached directly to the module or they can be connected through an I/O scanner.

Physically, the Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1791-OA32 block I/O module is composed of removable terminal strips that cover the output, remote I/O, and other connections, it posses a grounding stud and different status indicator lights that show the status of the network and the status of each output and how it is functioning. This module also comes with switch assemblies that are located behind the front cover of the module. Each one of the outputs of the Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1791-OA32 block I/O module is capable of driving AC loads with a maximum surge current of 10 Amps and a maximum current of 300 milliamps at a maximum temperature of 60 degrees Celsius.
