The Allen-Bradley 1769-SCIF8U is a Series A spectrum control universal analog input module. Eight of this module’s channels are available for thermocouple, voltage, or current inputs while 4 channels are available for RTD or resistance inputs. Compatible with CompactLogix and MicroLogix 1500 controllers, the 1769-SCIF8U module functions like a dedicated analog input module without sacrificing performance and it reduces costs and maximizes rack space. Eight onboard jumpers are present to configure the current and voltage modes.
Thirty-two input types are available with this module and each channel can be programmed individually. The input ranges for the 1769-SCIF8U are 0-20 mA and 4-20 mA for current, 0-150, 0-1000, and 0-3000 Ω for resistance, +/-50 mV, +/-100 mV, 0-5 V, 1-5 V, 0-10V, and +/-10V for voltage, J, K, T, B, E, R, S, N, and C for thermocouple, and PT385/3916, Ni618/672, NiFE518, and Cu426 for RTD. You can use any combination of inputs to this module and when using thermocouples and note that cold junction compensation is present.
The 1769-SCIF8U module has 6 filter frequencies available, 10 Hz, 50 Hz, 60 Hz, 250 Hz, 500 Hz, and 1000 Hz, and these are individually selectable per channel. There is onboard error checking and open circuit detection for most input types. This module also has auto-calibration and comes with 16-bit resolution.
The backplane current rating of this module is 45 mA at 24V and 150 mA at 5V. It also has a thermal dissipation of 3 W maximum and rejection ratio of 115 dB at 50-60 Hz for common mode and 85 dB at 50-60 Hz for normal mode. The input impedance of this module is greater than 10 Mâ„¦ for thermocouple, RTD, and voltage and less than 250 â„¦ for current. Its continuous electrical isolation is 10V DC for channel-to-channel isolation and 125V AC for both field-wiring-to-backplane and for field-wiring-to-chassis-ground. The module also comes with a +/-30V DC continuous input overvoltage protection and 28 mA continuous input overcurrent protection.
