The 1769-SM2 is a communication module belonging to Allen Bradley’s CompactLogix series. This module is designed for use with DSI/Modbus networks, ensuring compatible integration within various automation systems. It supports two operating modes: Single Mode, allowing for the connection of one PowerFlex 4-Class drive, and Multi-Drive Mode, which enables connections for up to five drives per channel, aggregating a maximum of 15 connections.

For installation, the module is versatile, as it allows for panel mounting using screws or supporting DIN rail mounting. Proper setup requires positioning it within four slots of the system power supply. To secure it, two #8 or M4 panhead screws are needed. The device includes three channels, each facilitated by RJ45 connectors for easy access and deployment.

Current consumption is at 350 mA when powered by the Compact I/O power supply at 5V DC, ensuring efficient energy usage. The module is rated to operate effectively within a temperature range from -10 to 50 degrees Celsius, making it suitable for diverse operational environments.
