The Allen-Bradley 5094-IY8 thermocouple input module is an analog 8-channel input module that has 8 differential and single-ended inputs for connecting to other industrial machines. Its input current ratings are 0 to 20 milliamps and 4 to 20 milliamps. The 5094-IY8 thermocouple analog input module has a common-mode voltage rating of +/- 10 Volts. This analog 8-channel input module is well-suited for industrial applications like process control and high-speed digital control. It uses Producer/Consumer technology that lets data be shared between multiple Allen-Bradley Logix 5000 controllers. The 5094-IY8 input module can operate in the voltage mode or the current mode. It does not come with terminal base (TB) assembly, but a separate one needs to be installed so that field-side wiring can be connected to the module.

 

The Allen-Bradley 5094-IY8 input module uses 24 Volts DC voltage from the field-side power source that is attached to the module’s field-side wiring. This module can be wired in different wiring setups depending on what application it is being used for and depending on whether it is being used in the current operating mode or in the voltage operating mode. In the voltage operating mode, the 5094-IY8 input module can be wired in a 2-wire or a 4-wire setup. In every wiring setup, use Belden 8761 or equivalent shielded or twisted pair wire to ensure proper device operation and a high level of immunity to electrical noise. The 5094-IY8 thermocouple input module can also operate in a special thermocouple operating mode. The thermocouple input comes in multiple types, including the B, C, D, E, J, and K thermocouple input types.
