The 1771-IXE Series B input module is compatible with all Allen-Bradley 1771 I/O chassis, and it can be installed on any slots in the 1771 I/O chassis. The 1771-IXE Series B input module can sense up to 8 differential analog input signals and then convert these signals into a digital format that is compatible with the controller. The 1771-IXE Series B input module has 8 configurable input channels (E, J, K, T, R, and S thermocouples inputs, and +100 millivolts input). These inputs can be configured for either thermocouple input ranges or millivolt input ranges. The 2-input configuration is allowed for this device with 4 of 1 input type and 4 of another.
The 1771-IXE Series B input module has a maximum backplane current draw of 750 milliAmps at 5 Volts DC (Series B only) and a total power dissipation rating of 4.25 Watts. This device offers cold junction compensation (CJC) at a temperature between 0 and 60 degrees Celsius with an accuracy of +/- 0.5 degrees Celsius. The available temperature scale includes the Celsius or Fahrenheit units, and it has a temperature resolution (input resolution) of 1 degree Celsius, 1 degree Fahrenheit, or 10 microvolts. The 1771-IXE Series B input module offers programmable user functionalities like high and low-temperature control, calibration, cold junction temperature filtering, and self-diagnostics and status reporting. It also has an automatic offset and it gains calibration on each channel and cold junction calibration. The 1771-IXE Series B input module utilizes the Allen-Bradley 1771-WI field wiring arm for wiring (with 50 feet of maximum cable length), and it has front-panel light indicators that show the module’s status.

The Allen-Bradley 1771-IXE is a PLC 5 Analog Input Module. It is a Thermocouple/Millivolt Input Module. This module utilizes Block Transfer Read and Write (BTR) and (BTW) instructions to transfer input data words from its memory to the PLC processor. The 1771-IXE requires a single-slot for installation in a 1771 I/O chassis and needs no external power supply. The 1771-IXE module has 8 floating differential inputs for thermocouple or millivolt input ranges which includes types E, J, K, T, R, and S thermocouples and +/-100 millivolts. Either 8 inputs are allowed of the same type or 4 each of 2 different types. The 1771-IXE includes cold junction compensation with a range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius and +/-0.5 degree Celsius accuracy. It has a selectable temperature scale of Celsius or Fahrenheit with a temperature resolution of 1 degree Celsius or 1 degree Fahrenheit and a millivolt resolution of 10 µV. The Allen-Bradley 1771-IXE requires a backplane current load of 750mA at 5V and has a channel update time of 50 milliseconds per 8 channels. Its wiring is connected to the 1771-WI field wiring arm eliminating the need for disconnecting the wires when replacing the module. The 1771-IXE has a maximum power dissipation of 4.25 Watts and maximum thermal dissipation of 14.5 BTU/hour. Keying bands must be put between pins 20 to 22 and pins 24 to 26 which accept only this module. The 1771-IXE module has high and low-temperature alarms that are selectable by the user. It contains a green RUN and a red FLT indicator on the front panel for power and fault status. During power-up, it performs self-diagnostics and reports its status. It provides open-circuit detection in case thermocouple fails. The 1771-IXE automatically calibrates offset and gain for each channel, eliminating the need of potentiometers.
The Allen-Bradley 1771-IXE is an analog input module with Eight (8) Thermocouple and millivolt inputs channels. This module is compatible for installation with any PLC5 chassis. This module may be configured for Celsius and Fahrenheit scale.
This module is a single slot module that directly install to the 1771 chassis slot. It may be installed to any open slot provided that the power supply is adequately sized to provide backplane power to the module. This Thermocouple / millivolt input module support Thermocouple Type E, J, K, T, R and S while supported millivolt value is +/- 100mV. This module is provided with a Cold Junction Compensation.
This module is compatible for use in measurement ranges such as -270 to 1000 Deg. Celsius, -210 to 1200 Deg. Celsius, -270 to 1380 Deg. Celsius, -50 to 1780 Deg. Celsius, -270 to 400 Deg. Celsius.
This module is specifically compatible for use in Temperature applications as Thermocouple sensors are Temperature measuring devices. Additionally, the resistance input compatibility may be used to measure displacement of devices, typically in factory automation applications.
