The Allen-Bradley 1784-KT module is a module which allows terminals, workstations, and personal computers to communicate with Allen-Bradley controllers and processors over the DH+ network or over direct connections. The 1784-KT module is a half-size 8-bit ISA card that can be installed in any 16-bit or 8-bit ISA expansion slot. The 1784-KT module enables a computer to act as an active node on the DH+ networks, increases the application response by providing higher throughput compared to the RS-232 network, and it enables a single cable connection to the PLC-5, PLC-3, and PLC-2 controllers.

The 1784-KT module has been tested with the numerous systems. The output connector on the 1784-KT module is a 62-pin D-shell connector. The outputs available on the 1784-KT module include the DH+, PLC-3 serial interface, and the PLC-2 serial interface output. The hardware interrupts supported by the 1784-KT module are the IRQ3 (Com 2), IRQ4, IRQ5, and IRQ7 interrupts. The asynchronous connections to the PLC-2/PLC-3 controllers supports 9600 and 19,200 baud. The synchronous data rated for the DH+ is 57.6 Kbaud. The power requirements of the 1784-KT module are 0.4 Amps at 5 Volts DC and 0.04 Amps at ±12 Volts DC. The respective power consumption levels are 2 Watts and 0.48 Watts, respectively.
