The 1404-M505A-ENT PowerMonitor 3000 module by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation has the letters "ENT" at the end of its catalog number to indicate that it not only has a native RS-485 communication port but also an active 10/100 BaseT Ethernet communication port. The Ethernet port can connect to the Allen-Bradley 1761-NET-ENI, ControlLogix Ethernet Bridge, PLC-5E, and SLC 5/05 controllers. The users can use it with other network switches, bridges, hubs, and routers too.

The Allen-Bradley 1404-M505A-ENT module has a dual-port configuration, which makes the communication ports (the RS-485 and 10/100 BaseT Ethernet ports) able to operate concurrently. Before connecting the Ethernet network to the PowerMonitor module, the communication parameters should be configured. The parameters that need to be configured include the Subnet Mask, Gateway IP address, and Internet Protocol (IP) address configurations. Configure the IP address to enable the easy identification of the 1404-M505A-ENT PowerMonitor module on the network. Use the 4 decimal numbers and set each octet or byte ranging from 0 to 255 decimal, for instance, aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd. Set "192.168.254x" as the default IP address, where "x" is the unit’s ID number that is assigned by the manufacturer. Note that some IP addresses are not allowed such as "255.255.255.255." This PowerMonitor 3000 monitor has a power rating of 120/240 Volts AC, a current rating of 5 Amps, and a frequency rating of 50 to 60 Hertz.
