This module has four total inputs.
The 1746-NI4 has a 10 Hertz bandwidth.
DO Supply, Inc. offers a variety of repair services for the 1746-NI4.
The 1746-NI4 is a multi-use analog module that provides both voltage and current reading for each individual channel
Ensure the power light on the card comes on when inserted into the rack
Check dip switches to see that you are using the correct setting (current or voltage) for your application
Visually inspect the card outside of the rack: check that resistors, capacitors, TRIACs and chips all look functional
In this demonstration of testing the 1746-NI4 we will be using the following parts
1746-A7 (Rack)
1747-L553 (processor)
1746-P2 (power supply)
Variable voltage DC power supply
Insert the card into the rack (we will be using slot 5)
1. Open a new project in RS-Logix 500 and select the processor that will be used.
2. Go into I/O configuration to read the 1747-NI4 in the back plane
NOTE: If the wrong processor has been selected from step 1, you will be asked to change the processor type. A window will appear and ask you to correct the problem, select “okay” to do so.
3. Download the program to the processor
4. Once online, go into the input table
This is where we will read our inputs changing when various voltages are applied
INPUT ranges are
Current: -20mA to +20mA
Voltage: -10vDC to +10vDC
Terminals for testing:
Positive terminals
0
3
6
9
Negative terminals:
1
4
7
10
5. Applying 5.33v to terminal 0 and 1 for testing input 1 We will get a reading around 17482 +- 100
6. Continue this process all the way down until input 3 has been reached
Apply the black lead (negative) to ANL COM
Now for each input apply the 5.33v to each positive input terminal
We will get a reading of 8735 +-100
testing current we will follow the same process except this time our dip switches on the side of the card will be in the on position (up instead of down)
Each input reading will be similar to the last for both voltage and current testing
