About SLC 504

The Allen-Bradley SLC 504 controller module is a programmable controller module from the Allen-Bradley SLC 500 control system that is designed to provide power and flexibility in a wide range of control applications. The SLC 504 processor module features 16 K, 32 K, and 64 K program memory size options, with high-speed program process performance (0.9 milliseconds), and it is capable of providing control for up to 4096 discrete remote and local input and output points. The SLC 504 processor module occupies the first slot of the first chassis, and a single processor module is sufficient for a whole system. It has a maximum backplane current draw of 1 Amp at 5 Volts DC, 200 mA at 24 Volts DC. 

The SLC 504 modular I/O system can be configured to a maximum of 3 chassis (30 total slots), and it can support anything from 4 to 4096 I/O points. It has a built-in Allen-Bradley Data Highway Plus (DH+) port that supports high-speed communication of up to 230.4 Kilo-Bauds, messaging capability with the SLC 500, PLC-2, PLC-5, and ControlLogix processors, and also high-speed processor-to-processor module communications. The SLC 504 module also has a built-in RS-232 port that supports remote point-to-point communication, DH-485 communication, and MODBUS RTU communication. It has a write-protectable EPROM flash memory module option with a 64K word non-volatile memory capacity for program backup. The SLC 504 module has a battery-backed RAM (Random Access Memory) with a backup time of up to 5 years, and an internal clock/calendar with ±54 seconds/month accuracy. It can be programmed easily by using the RSLogix Ladder logic programming software that provides flexible point-and-click configuration, editing, troubleshooting, and diagnostic tools for reduced development time and increased productivity.
