The 2706-A11J is an operator interface device that is part of Allen-Bradley’s DL10 series of Text display products. This electrical device is capable of providing a single line of text display with up to 20 characters per line. It is ideal for use in manufacturing and sorting applications and other processes that require operator readout. This operator interface can communicate with host devices such as a computer, and a master DL20 Dataliner message display. These host devices store the variety of messages to be displayed by the 2706-A11J. The 2706-A11J is provided with Eight (8) screw terminals that host the RS232 and RS422 communication interfaces. RS232 communication is used for point to point or communication with a single device while RS422 is intended for multi-drop communication, allowing connection of up to 100 DL10 displays on a single segment with a maximum segment length of 4000 feet. This operator interface is powered by an external 110VAC / 120 VAC power source. The 2706-A11J is operable in slave and mode terminal mode. When configured in slave mode, this DL10 device communicates with a DL20 device with the latter device acting as the master component. The DL20 device then communicates to a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) or a computer to receive messages. The data received by the DL20 is passed on to the connected slave DL10 devices. When operating in terminal mode, the DL10 receives ASCII messages from commercial and industrial computers and Allen-Bradley modules such as Allen-Bradley 1771-DB, 1775GA, or 1771-DA and other intelligent devices that support ASCII messaging.
The 2706-A11J module is an Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation display module that is used across different industries. This display is used for presenting messages in large factories or warehouses. This industrial component is designed for professional use and it can deliver very clear messages and alarms. The messages are visible from a distance of up to 240 feet (73 meters) way. The display belongs to the Allen-Bradley Dataliner DL10 product series. The Dataliner product family also offers the DL20, DL5, DL30, and DL50 series to meet a wider range of applications. The 2706-A11J display module is CE marked and it is built in accordance with regulations like the EMC directive and the European low voltage directive. The display module is intended to be mounted in a panel or an enclosure. The enclosure mount would be helpful if there is a need for additional protection of the internal circuitry. This particular module model has a NEMA Type 12/13 enclosure and it requires proper ventilation within the enclosure. The manufacturer suggests that the maximum ambient temperature for the display is 50 degrees Celsius (122 degrees Fahrenheit) while the lowest acceptable operating temperature is 0 degrees Celsius (32 degrees Fahrenheit). The Allen-Bradley 2706-A11J message display module has an input power rating of 120 Volts AC and an input frequency of 50 to 60 Hertz. The display is built on VFD (Vacuum Fluorescent Display) technology and it includes dimensions of 365.7 x 111.7 millimeters (14.4 x 4.4 inches). Besides that, the 2706-A11J display module provides 2 multi-purpose communication ports which are the RS-232 and RS-422 ports. The communication ports provide a means for multi-drop serial communication or single device communication. The 2706-A11J display module requires only basic tools for installation and the correct panel cutout if it is panel-mounted. This DL10 series model provides messages in a single line with a 20-character count. One line supports up to 16 characters of text. This user-oriented display supports most characters and symbols that are necessary for standard operation.
