The 2711P-RP2D is logic type module belonging to the Class I Division 2, Series “D” family that is manufactured by Allen Bradley. This module is a PanelView Plus 700 to 1500 logic module that is Marine-Certified, although it is not compatible with the PanelView Plus 6 series of Allen Bradley terminals. The 2711P-RP2D module has a 128 MB Flash 128 MB RAM memory for a single application, which also includes an isolated DC power supply. The input voltage for the 2711P-RP2D unit is 18 to 32 Volts DC with a 70 Watt power maximum. A 15A maximum circuit breaker or fuse is required in order to protect the module’s input power and the battery has a minimum 4 years in it, operating at 25 degrees Celsius (or 77 degrees Fahrenheit). This unit has a battery-backed clock, which can be forwarded or delayed for 2 minutes every month. This module indicates its status by showing green or red light as COMM (Green) and FAULT (Red). Its input method is keypad, touch, or combination of keypad and touch, with Color-Active Matrix TFT (Thin Film Transistor) display type. This module uses a three position terminal block.
The 2711P-RP2D is made up of an Ethernet Port, a Serial Port, 2 USB ports and a CompactFlash Card Slot. To comply with hazardous location environments, the 2711P-RP2D terminals contain universal serial bus (USB) ports. The backlight of the High-Bright display generates much heat if set to full intensity. To minimize this and extend the lifetime of the backlight, the display brightness of the module should be decreased by using the screen saver with a 5 to 10-minute delay. The terminal connection wire should be either solid or stranded; it must have enough clearance for terminals and enclosures, and for adequate ventilation, in order to prevent the module from increased space hazards or from overheating.
