The 2711P-RN10H module is a DeviceNet communication module that has been designed by Allen-Bradley to be used specifically with the following operator interface devices, the Allen-Bradley PanelView Plus and the PanelView Plus CE 700 to 1500 terminals. DeviceNet is a communication protocol that is widely used in the automation and control industries. It works with a backbone mechanism and it is one of the most commonly used communication protocols in industrial settings, and it is used in several devices due to its great application advantages.  

The Allen-Bradley 2711P-RN10H DeviceNet communication module is composed of several parts that are important since these parts indicate the current status of the module. The module comes with a NET status indicator, with several ports (red, white, shield, blue, and black ports), a MOD status indicator, and an I/O status indicator. It is not recommended to disconnect any communication cable while the power is applied to the device or to any device connected to it. If this is done, the connected power can produce an arc and it could even cause an explosion. The status indicator provided on the Allen-Bradley 2711P-RN10H DeviceNet communication module can show different application conditions. For example, if the status indicator is off, it means all outputs or inputs are active. If it glows green, one or more of the outputs and inputs are active. There are other indicator options such as a flashing green, flashing red, and a glowing red indicator, and these indicate that the outputs and inputs are idle, faulted, forced off, or in an unrecoverable fault.
