The Allen-Bradley 1394-AM04 is a 1394 Servo Drive Axis Module. It is part of the 1394 GMC or GMC Turbo system. The 1394-AM04 belongs to Series A and B but it is interchangeable with the 1394C-AM04 Series C axis module. It is an inverter with no heatsink that converts the DC power supplied by the system module to a variable AC voltage in a 1394 system. One 1394-AM04 axis module is required for every servo motor to run the 1394 system. It is connected to a system module using its slide-and-lock mechanism that eliminates up to 100 wire terminals. One 1394 system consists of 1-4 axis modules. The 1394-AM04 module has 530-680V DC input voltage and 4.5 - 9 A current. It has a power dissipation of 2.4/3 - 4.8/6 kW at 380-460 V. The 1394-AM04 also has 98% efficiency, a 110 µF capacitance, and a static gain (RMS A/mV) of 2.6. It has dimensions of 13.78 x 11.02 x 1.97 in and it weighs 11.02 lbs. It has a speed regulation of 0-0.05% of the base speed with a 100% torque disturbance. The 1394-AM04 axis module is used in all new applications that require up to four high-performance cycle axes. It is also ideal for applications requiring frequent power monitoring or power cycling. Some of the 1394-AM04’s applications include material handling, high-speed packaging, press load/unload, and converting.
The Allen-Bradley 1394-AM04 is an axis module from the Bulletin 1394 product family of multi-axis digital servo drives. This axis module is a series A/B module that operates at a DC input voltage of 530 Volts DC/680 Volts DC with an input current of 4.8 Amperes. This drive delivers an output voltage of 310 Volts AC/390 Volts AC, 3-phase with a continuous output current of 4.5 Amperes, peak current of 9 Amperes, and continuous output power of 2.4 Kilowatts @ 310 Volts AC and 3 Kilowatts @ 390 Volts AC along a frequency output of 0-240 Kilohertz.
The 1394-AM04’s speed regulation is 0 to 0.05% of base speed with 100% torque disturbance with static gain of 2.6 (rms A/mV). It has modulation frequency of 5 kHz ±10% with drift of 0.03 rpm/degree Celsius. This drive has 98% efficiency with a capacitance of 110 µF.
The 1394-AM04 is compatible for use with a variety of servo motors such as 1326AB Servo motors, specifically 1326AB-B410G, 1326AB-B410J, 1326AB-B420E, 1326AB-B420H, 1326AB-B430E, 1326AB-B430G, 1326AB-B515E, and 1326AB-B520E. It is also compatible with 1326AS servo motors such as 1326AS-B330H, 1326AS-B420G, 1326AS-B440G, and 1326AS-B460F.
To avoid nuisance tripping of the 1394 motion control system, the 1394-AM04 is ideally paired with the 1394x-SJT05-x system modules with a secondary circuit protection device, catalog number 1492-CB3-H300. The 1394-AM04 is also compatible with the 1394x-SJT10-x and protection device with catalog number 1492-CB3-H500 and 1394x-SJT22-x and protection device with catalog number 1492-CB3-H600. This axis module must be installed in an environment with shock and vibration not exceeding 15g and 1g, respectively.
