The Allen-Bradley 1394-SR36A external shunt resistor kit is manufactured to dissipate excess energy in Allen-Bradley 1394 devices and systems that do not have internal resistors or that do have internal resistors that would be overloaded by regenerative loads of a certain size. Compatible devices and systems include the 1394 (and 8520) systems that are rated at 22 kilowatts and that do not have their own shunt resistors and the 1394 systems that are rated at 5 kilowatts or 10 kilowatts and that have their own 200-Watt internal resistors which will be overloaded by the regenerated loads that are required by their applications. The 1394-SR36A external shunt resistor kit uses a fuse for safety. If it is UL-listed, it uses a Bussmann 600 Volts DC 50 Amps fuse or equivalent, and if it is not UL-listed, it uses a Bussmann 600 Volts DC 40 or 50 Amps fuse or equivalent.



 



The Allen-Bradley 1394-SR36A external shunt resistor kit needs a new fuse after the old fuse has been activated. To avoid an electric shock, always disconnect the power from the shunt resistor before replacing the fuse, and note that the resistor may have more than 1 power source connected to it, especially if it is part of a multi-axis 1394 system.
