The GD3080 is a 3-pole, Series C G-Frame Cutler-Hammer thermal magnetic circuit breaker manufactured by the Eaton Corporation. Its interrupting capacity ranges between 65 kiloamps at 240 Volts AC, 22 kiloamps at 480 volts AC, and 10 kiloamps at 250 Volts DC, 80 Amps of maximum continuous current, 480 Volts AC or 250 Volts DC maximum voltage, and it weighs 1 kilogram. It is suitable for reverse feed use and for providing equipment control and protection in a wide range of industries and for different applications such as main and branch circuit protection in motor control centers, motors, panelboards, and distribution systems. The GD3080 circuit breaker features non-interchangeable trips and terminals for line and load. Each of the 6 terminals (2 for each pole) can be used with an end cap kit or a keeper nut, both of which act as adapters to facilitate the use of the ring or bolt-on line and load conductor connectors on both terminals.
Terminal shields can also be used on both the line and load ends of the circuit breaker. To control or protect multiple devices and equipment with the GD3080 circuit breaker, multiwire connectors can be used on the load side for distributing the load without the need for separate terminal blocks. Note that leaving any terminal loose on the GD3080 circuit breaker can result in arcing and overheating, both of which can lead to frequent tripping. The rugged casing of the GD3080 circuit breaker is designed from glass-polyester to meet the demands of different work environments. Its casing repels fungus growth and moisture, and it provides sturdy insulation for internal components and accessories. The GD3080 can be used for a wide variety of applications but special termination applications may require the use of interphase barriers to providing more electrical clearance for all 3 poles of the GD3080 thermal magnetic circuit breaker.
