About MT3450T

The MT3450T is an 800 Amps, 600 Volts AC, 3-pole rated Thermal-Magnetic Trip Unit manufactured by Eaton. It guards machines against short circuits, overcurrents, and overloads and it works with type MDL and HMDL M-Frame Series-C Eaton high interrupting capacity circuit breakers to protect industrial equipment. The MT3450T thermal-magnetic trip unit features instantaneous trip elements that trip the circuit breaker in the case of high fault currents that exceed the instantaneous pickup setting and it has a casing that is factory sealed to prevent the users from accidentally tampering with its calibration settings. Each of the 3 magnetic units on the MT3450T thermal-magnetic trip unit can be adjusted by rotating the adjustment buttons either clockwise or anti-clockwise to reach the desired rating.

It features 3 conductor poles for connecting trip units to the circuit breaker and a set of latches to help the users easily align the trip unit and the circuit breaker during installation. It is essential to follow Eaton's recommended torquing rating for the MT3450T thermal-magnetic trip unit when screwing its conductor poles onto the load end of the circuit breaker because excessive torquing can shear the threads of the screws and lead to nuisance tripping because of overheating. It seamlessly integrates with the metering and remote monitoring accessories that are compatible with the MT3450T thermal-magnetic trip unit. Note that the MT3450T trip unit may seriously malfunction or derate when it is used in applications that exceed its rating. Properly applied, it can last for many years without requiring maintenance.
