The 1321-3R100-C is an external protection device that is typically used with Allen-Bradley drive products. With a line reactor installed at the input line connections of the adjustable frequency AC drive, line disturbances such as sudden voltage increase and decrease, Current spikes and harmonics are absorb by this device thus, preventing it from entering the VFD and damaging the frequency drive.

A line filter is basically an inductive load made of coils of wire to form a magnetic field. The magnetic field reacts to the flowing current through the input line thus the name Line Reactor.

The 1321-3R100-C is recommended by Allen-Bradley for use with their very drives such as PowerFlex 700, PowerFlex 700S, PowerFlex 400N, PowerFlex 750, PowerFlex 400, PowerFlex Low Voltage drives and PowerFlex DC Drives. This does not mean that the line reactor may be used with the entire product family, the line reactor is compatible with one or a variety of products within these PowerFlex families. Ensure proper sizing of line reactor by referencing to the Fundamental Amperes of 100A, Frequency of 50 / 60 Hertz for both Line and Load, Inductance Tolerance of +/-10% and Rated Voltage of 600V AC with terminal blocks or 690V AC with box lugs or tab terminals.

Line reactors are installed within the enclosure where the VFD is mounted. It may be installed at the drive’s input and output line connection, with multiple drives or with multiple motors. A 3-Phase reactor may also be used with 1-Phase applications. This is achieved by utilizing the outside coils of the unit, leaving the middle coil without a connection.
