About Comm Modules

The Allen-Bradley Comm Modules are used for implementing network-based access control for users, devices, and networks in industrial settings. These Allen-Bradley modules offer a wide range of choices that help to achieve customized solutions based on the needs of applications. These communication modules support common industry protocol networks which include the EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet and ControlNet networks. The modules use connections to establish communication between different devices. They provide real-time input/output messaging and other message exchange services. They offer embedded switch technology features. The Comm Modules can operate in different environments by using the Control-XT module. The modules provide device-level ring connectivity which allows the devices to form ring topologies for better resiliency. The outer body of the communication modules comes with conformal coatings.

The Comm Modules are equipped with status indicators that show the operation status of the modules. They also come with MOD indicators, I/O status indicators, and other ports. These modules are compatible with different PanelView series devices including the 700, 1000, 1250, and 1500 series PanelView devices. The modules can also be controlled by using the RSLogix Studio software. The communication modules can be remotely programmed and controlled. The Comm Modules support both scheduled and unscheduled messages. The modules offer a redundant network infrastructure which helps to minimize the risk of downtime. The operating temperature of the modules falls between 0 and 50 degrees Celsius. The modules can be operated at an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level without getting derated. The installation area should be humid with 5 to 95%, non-condensing relative humidity. The Comm Modules have been Marine certified.
