sCreated by Allen-Bradley, The 1336-GMS2 is an adjustable microprocessor-controlled drive that’s creatively designed to control industrial induction motors (three-phase). This automation module, which belongs to the 13336 series, also generates a three-phase, PWM, variable output frequency, to supply a variable motor speed. The output voltage can be adjusted to match specific motor parameters, so as to achieve optimal motor performance. The 1336-GMS2 drive, which belongs to the 1336 series, features a non-programmable input, positioned at terminal 30, which is dedicated to the device’s hardware. For this drive to start, this input must be available. Opening it shuts off the drive’s output, leading to a “coast to stop”. With a fixed input/output (I/O) and several L option I/O cards, this drive can operate from a remote control panel/optional local with minimal connections to the terminal block TB2. Additional status outputs, as well as control functions, are also available to boost efficiency. This part can be configured to function with a fixed speed module or an analog speed follower; it can also be controlled by a communication network. The embedded I/O control board comes with one 460 Volt AC and three 24 Volt DC digital inputs.
The 1336-GMS2 drive can be designed to utilize an analog source its primary speed reference. Port 1 is the default configuration, but still, the device can be configured to use a 10V DC source, a 0 to 10 Volt DC, or a 4 to 20 mA source. There exist two common 1336-Series drive examples with different speed-reference inputs, together with hard-wired start/stop or direction control configurations, which are the three-wire Control integrated with Pot Speed Reference and the 1336 CLASSIC Drive with Power Flex 75—Series Drive. This unit’s digital control inputs make use of an external 24 Volt DC supply while the analog speed follower utilizes a wired 10 kĂŽÂŹ potentiometer. It’s important to note that a 1336-GMS2 module that features a communication option card can readily be substituted by a Powerflex 750-Series drive; however, the replacement process can vary greatly, depending on the communication option available on the 1336-Series model and the type of communicating controller. The 1336-GMS2 comes with programming options in the Control Interface to allow users select their preferred input combination. This helps them meet the specific installation requirements.
The 1336-series drive has an embedded EtherNet/IP adapter and supports an extensive range of communication options. It also supports a SCAN Port communication interface. The 1336-GMS2 drive can also be programmed and used as an analog speed follower. Alternatively, it can be configured for use as a preset speed module. The 1336-GMS2 can also be controlled with a communication network. The 1336-GMS2 drive comes with common core mode cores. This feature is effective in reducing the common mode noise coming from this drive output. It also helps guard against interference from other electronic equipment (including programmable controllers, analog circuits, and sensors).
