This enclosure protects it from physical damage. This device is used when the operator intends to remove energy from a DC bus which is common to AC drives, to a three-phase utility line. Its operation comes in two basic modes which are the regenerative braking mode and the regenerative DC bus supply mode. It is important for them to realize that the disconnect switches or the branch circuit breakers do not give the precharge unit components and converter of this device any level of protection. This device is designed to operate on supply systems which have lines whose voltages are symmetrical. In this device is a surge suppression mechanism which is included to give this device a protection against lightning and overvoltages which are induced between the line and the ground. Operators need to define the paths through which the high-frequency ground currents flow to ensure that the sensitive currents do not share a path with other currents.
