The VFD is also known as an AFD (adjustable frequency drive), inverter drive, microdrive, and adjustable speed drive that is designed and built for productivity and flexibility. AFDs are used for saving energy and they are also implemented in fan and pump applications for varying the fan or pump speed according to the industrial demand or requirements.
