|

The Allen-Bradley 1397-DS150 switch is a 150 Horsepower AC line disconnect switch that is specifically designed to be installed inside the 1397 DC drives. For applications that require a 230 Volts drive rating, the Horsepower rating of the 1397-DS150 switch is 75 Horsepower (56 kW). When the application requires a 460 Volts drive rating, the switch Horsepower rating doubles to 150 Horsepower (112 kW). The main function of the 1397-DS150 AC line disconnect switch is to provide a complete disconnection of the drive from the incoming AC power supply so that any maintenance or inspection task requiring access to the drive can be safely executed.

The Allen-Bradley 1397-DS150 switch is a 150 Horsepower AC line disconnect switch that is specifically designed to be installed inside the Allen-Bradley 1397 DC drives. For applications that require a 230 Volts drive rating, the Horsepower rating of the 1397-DS150 switch is 75 Horsepower (56 kW). When the application requires a 460 Volts drive rating, the Horsepower rating doubles to 150 Horsepower (112 kW). The main function of the 1397-DS150 AC line disconnect switch is to provide a complete disconnection of the drive from the incoming AC power supply so that any maintenance or inspection task requiring access to the drive can be safely executed.  This type of switch, which is also known as a safety switch, is a required piece of safety equipment by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) for all industrial or manufacturing facilities.

The installation procedure for the Allen-Bradley 1397-DS150 AC line disconnect switch should only be performed by qualified electricians who take all the necessary precautions to avoid electrical discharges, such as locking and tagging all the incoming power to the drive. If these precautions are not taken, electric shock can cause injury or death. The first step before proceeding to open the drive’s case is to verify there is no voltage present at terminals L1, L2, and L3 of the power terminal block. A detailed explanation of every single step of the process is provided in the Allen-Bradley 1397-DS150 AC line disconnect switch installation manual. Once the AC line disconnect switch installation process is completed, it will become an integral part of the 1397 AC drive system and the operators will be able to use it for any type of activity requiring manual interruption of the power to the drive.
