The Allen-Bradley 8520-4S10A-EX4-S-1-2-3-4-5-7 9/440 Resolver Based CNC System Module is a 10KW, 4 Axis Resolver based 9/440 system module in Allen-Bradley’S 9/series CNC control system that incorporates CNC control with Allen-Bradley digital drives in one compact and cost-effective unit. It can interface with the Allen-Bradley 1326 resolver-based servo motors, and it offers decreased operating cost, decreased system integration time, and decreased cabling problems. The whole 8520-4S10A-EX4-S-1-2-3-4-5-7 system consists of a modular system module with 4 axis modules (max) installed, and it can accommodate 2 closed analog output systems, and it comes with 4 resolver feedback ports, with 3 encoder feedback ports. The 8520-4S10A-EX4-S-1-2-3-4-5-7 has a 3-phase voltage range between 324 and 528 Volts AC at 50 to 60 Hertz, with a 13A operating current that peaks at 29.4A; it also has a 10kW output, which peaks at 28kW. The system module consists of a processor board that houses the main CPU and connects the system to the fiber-optic ring, the E-stop string, and to peripheral devices, and the 8520-4S10A-EX4-S-1-2-3-4-5-7 has a wiring board, a power supply assembly, and a feedback board that provides excitation power to resolvers on the 1326 servo motors.
The 8520-4S10A-EX4-S-1-2-3-4-5-7 system gives termination points to resolvers, and it provides encoder feedback, touch probe interface, remote I/O connection, and 2 serial communication ports (A and B) for peripheral connections. The system processor also stores system program data, and it has a charged supercapacitor which backs up the system program data in case of power failure, and it has an additional Allen-Bradley 8520-LIBAT lithium battery backup with a standard 3-year lifespan at 40 degrees Celsius that is installed for extended backup periods. The 8520-4S10A-EX4-S-1-2-3-4-5-7 has a 24 Volts AC or 24 Volts DC Logic power which is used to operate processors in the system module and the axis module logic boards, and also to power the resolvers/encoders, and it communicates and transmits data to and from the connected peripheral devices via the serial ports which are configured for RS-232 communication only. The 8520-4S10A-EX4-S-1-2-3-4-5-7 also communicates via an integral remote I/O connection on the wiring board, and like all system modules in the 9/440 CNC series, it has system module LED lights which perform diagnostic functions. It has an operating temperature range of 23 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit, at a relative humidity range of 5 to 95% without condensation, and it has a storage limit of -40 to 158 degrees Fahrenheit. The 8520-4S10A-EX4-S-1-2-3-4-5-7 weighs about 10.68 kilograms, and it has aggregate dimensions of 400 x 150 x 280 millimeters.
