The Allen Bradley 8520-4S10A-EX4-S-1-2-3-5-7 Resolver-Based CNC System Module is a 10 kW, 4 Axis CNC System module, which incorporates 9/series CNC control with a digital servo drive in a single cohesive and cost-effective unit, and it is built to interface with the 1326 Resolve- based servo motors. It provides enhanced machine performance by reducing operation cost, the timing of system integration, and the difficulties associated with cabling, and it can accommodate 4 (max) Axis modules and 2 Analog output systems. The system has a processor board which houses the system’s Central Processing Unit (CPU), a feedback board, and a power supply source.  The 8520-4S10A-EX4-S-1-2-3-5-7 provides various termination points for the resolvers and encoder feedback, and two serial ports (for communicating with the 9/Series ODS or other peripherals such as printers or tape readers, and status spindle outputs.) Its processor board provides connection to the 9/Series fiber-optic ring and the E-stop string. It has an operating voltage range of 324 to 528 Volts AC (3-phase) at 50 to 60 Hertz, with a 13A operating current, and a power output rating of 10kW.
When operational, the system module has 99% operational efficiency, with a typical loss ride thru time of 20 milliseconds, and it has a BUS output 530 to 680 Volts DC. It also has a 24 Volt AC/DC Logic Power that is used for operating the system module, and it has an axis module processor. It can also be used to power the encoders. The 8520-4S10A-EX4-S-1-2-3-5-7 stores program data on the processor board, and if the system power fails, the program data is backed up for as many as 5 days through a supercapacitor and a lithium battery backup can be installed to extend the storage period. The system communicates via the base-configured RS-232 serial Ports A and B, which allows for the transmission of data to and from peripheral devices, and it can also communicate via the integral Remote I/O circuit on the wiring board. The 8520-4S10A-EX4-S-1-2-3-5-7 has 4 LED indicators on the system module and the Axis modules, which show the system and axis module’s status, and it has CE, UL, and CSA certifications.
