The Allen-Bradley 8520-PS2A is the main power supply module for the 9/230 CNC system.  The main power supply module powers the system processor board, customer 24V devices, encoders, and to the operator panel power supply. The 8520-PS2A input is rated at 115V/230V AC (at 50/60 Hz) and it supports an input voltage range from 90-265V AC (at 47-63 Hz).  The maximum input current rating at 115V AC is 8 A and at 230V AC is 5.5 A. The 8520-PS2A consumes 130 Watts at 50°C (96.4 Watts at 60°C with convection cooling or 130 Watts with 25 CFM). A fuse rated at 8A/250V is integrated for protecting the power supply module. A line monitor enables the power supply to detect loss of AC power. The hold-up time is 6 ms at 130 W.

The output rating specifications for the 8520-PS2A are: +5.30V DC (10A at 50°C, 8A at 60°C), +15V DC (0.75A at 50°C, 0.2A at 60°C), -15V DC (-0.75A at 50°C, 0.2A at 60°C) and +24V DC (2.0A at 50°C, 2.0A at 60°C). The 8520-PS2A is designed to shut down when the 2A limit on the customer 24V supply is exceeded, resulting in the control to shut off. Protection must be provided for this circuit in case the auto-shutdown feature activation is not required. The 8520-PS2A needs to be installed in an enclosure with filtered air. Avoid placing the enclosure in environments where there is a high concentration of dust, oil, moisture, or organic solvents.
