About 8520-ROP

The 8520-ROP is a removable operator interface, manufactured by Allen Bradley, for the 8520 9/Series CNC machines. The 8520-ROP acts as an interface between the Main 9/ Series board and the MTB panel and the HPG. The size of the 8520-ROP is around 212 x 108 x 153 millimeters, and its operating temperature is 0 to 55 degrees Celsius, in a 5 to 95%, non-condensing humidity environment. The Recommended storage temperature for the 8520-ROP is -30 to 65 degrees Celsius; its panels can withstand maximum vibrations up to 1.0 G.  Note that the environmental conditions, if exceeding the aforementioned limits, can cause the module’s components to be damaged; excess temperatures or humidity can also result in unexpected problems during control operations. The cabinet designed for the panels must remain airtight, as the outside air from the industrial environments may cause contaminants and dust to accumulate in the high voltage areas of the 8520-ROP, which can lead to insulation failure. It is, therefore, recommended to use the appropriate heatsinks, fans, and filters, in order to maintain the cabinet temperature.

When replacing the 8520-ROP, ensure that the power supply to the system is disconnected and the system is turned off. From the removable operator panel, open the back cover by sliding the hinge pins. Disconnect all the cables from the panel, then remove the mounting screws and place the jumper on J11 between pins 2 and 3. Install the new 8520-ROP interface and mount the screws. Then reconnect all the cables and reconnect the power supply to the board. Connect the jumper and verify the desired operation of the board.
