The 4100-212 IMC S-Class Integration Motion Controller by Allen-Bradley is a compact microprocessor-based double-axis servo motion controller, which provides programmable control in a wide range of industrial applications. This controller provides 2-axis closed loop point-to-point positioning, profiling, velocity, and Accel/Decel controls in a drive system, and it uses the enhanced Graphic Motion Control Language (GML) for application programming. The 4100-212 comes with a 16 MHz Intel 80960SB processor, and it is designed with a 32K write-protected, battery-backed RAM. It also as a write-protected, battery-backed RAM for storing the CAM table and the user’s default variables, and it has up to 2000 user-defined variables with up to 26,000 Electronic Cam points. The 4100-212 has an input voltage range of 90 to 132 Volts AC or 175 to 264 Volts AC at 47 to 63 Hertz, with an input current of 3 Amps, and it has a DC IU/O input voltage range of 18 to 32 Volts DC with a 3 Amps Time Delay Fuse for circuit protection. The 4100-212 has 2 encoder inputs, and it uses the optically isolated incremental AB quadrature encoder type, which is compatible with the differential and TTL-Level (5V DC) outputs.
This controller has 2 isolated voltage or current servo outputs which is configured via an internal switch, and it has an out rating of ±10 Volts DC or ±150µA, and 220Ω resistive for voltage and 56Ω impedance for current output. It also has 10 dedicated 16-bit discrete inputs (5 per axis) configured for discrete input functions, and it has 4 dedicated discrete outputs (2 per axis) configured for the DRIVE ENABLE and Absolute Position Strobe features. The 4100-212 communicates via 2 isolated RS-232C or RS-422 Serial communication ports (Ports A and B) configurable via an internal switch, with a user-selectable baud rate of up 128KB, and it supports both full or half-duplex protocols depending on user’s choice. It has 4 MHz maximum feedback count rate which allows for high-speed operation without displacing resolution, and it has a servo output limit range of 0 to 100%. It has a working temperature range of -40 to 70 degrees Celsius (-40 to 158 degrees Fahrenheit) at a non-condensing relative humidity range of 5 to 95%, and it has a storage temperature range of 0 to 50 degrees Celsius (32 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit). The 4100-212 has a mounting volume of 330.2 x 155.7 x 236.3 millimeters, and an average weight of 7.7 kilograms.
