The Allen-Bradley 4100-232-R is an IMS Class Servo Motor controller. This controller is a microprocess based controller, installed with Intel 80960SB microprocessor with clock speed of 16 MHz. It is capable of controlling Two (2) motion axes and comes with a write-protect battery backed Random Access Memory (RAM). It comes with a Ten (10) year lifespan battery that stores the contents of the 32K application program.
The 4100-232-R supports 2000 user definable 64-bit floating point data and supports up to 26000 Electronic CAM points. This Servo controller supports encoder feedback signal types such as Incremental AB quadrature; optically isolated, differential encoder with marker channel while compatible Allen-Bradley Encoders are 845F-SJxZ14-xxYx...; 845F-SJxZ24-xxYx...; 845H-SJxx14xxYx...; 845H-SJxx24xxYx...; 845K-SAxZ14-xxY3; 845K-SAxZ24-xxY3; 845P-SHC14-xx3; 845T-xx12Exx...; 845T-xx13Exx...; 845T-xx42Exx...; and 845T-xx43Exx... encoders.
The 4100-232-R provides individually configurable isolated analog voltage or current signals. These output types are set using an internal switch dedicated for each axis. The drive’s analog output resolution are ±10 Volts DC for voltage output and ±150 µA for analog output with resolution of 16 bits or 305 µV or 4.58 µA per bit.
The 4100-232-R’s Remote I/O capability supports communication with 1794-ASB Flex I/O remote I/O adapter. Up to Eight (8) Flex I/O modules are supported by the 4100-232-R. Compatible Flex I/O modules are 1794-IB16, e Modules 1794-IB16 16 24V DC Discrete Inputs 1794-IA8, 1794-IE8, 1794-OB16, 1794-OA8, 1794-OE4, and 1794-IE4XOE2.
The 4100-232-R supports Remote I/O baud rate of 57.6K, 115.2K or 230.4K. Remote I/O racks may be addressed as 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, Full rack and supports up to 31 RIO stations.
This servo controller supports storage of up to 2,000 user-defined values, stored in the form of 16-bit floating point numbers. The 4100-232-R is fitted with an electronic CAM for directing the motion profile of all the axes, and it has a total of 26,000 CAM points, with 13,000 master CAM and 13,000 slave CAM points. It has an optically-isolated double encoder input with a voltage rating of 5 to 12 Volts DC and a current of 1 Amp and at an impedance of 7kΩ minimum. It has a 16-bit, 305 µV servo output resolution for smooth motion and 2 isolated field-configurable servo output which allow for easy selection between a +/-10 Volts or a +/-150 +/-150 µA signal orientation for each axis. The flex I/O modules connected to the 4100-232-R provide it with a maximum of 10 dedicated discrete inputs (5 for each axis), thereby providing it with an optically-isolated limit switch input, for positive and negative over travel as well as a home switch.
It has dimensions of 355.6 x 279.4x 165.1 millimeters (14x 11 x 6.50 inches) and it weighs approximately 7.7 kilograms (16.90 pounds).
