The 2198-CAPMOD-2240 is an Allen-Bradley Kinetix 5700 component module that functions as a Capacitor module. This module is installed to the power rail, together with the axis inverters, DC Bus power supply and other Kinetix 5700 modules. This capacitor module supports standard, non-regenerative and regenerative Kinetix 5700 motion control system configurations. The 2198-CAPMOD-2240’s main intended functions include increase of energy storage and extension of the DC Bus voltage to another inverter system and as an additional connection point for an active external shunt module. This module may also be used in systems with up to 104 Amperes external DC Bus current or connected in parallel with another accessory module. This module supports the Kinetix 5700 zero stacking design as it maintains the Zero stack tab which latches to the adjacent module to the left, to implement sharded-bus drive configuration. The mounting clearance required by the 2198-CAPMOD-2240 is 29.5 mm (1.16 in) for cover and DC Bus cabling, 115 mm (4.53 in.) above the module and 100 mm (3.94 in.) before the module. For bus extension, the 2198-CAPMOD-2240 is installed as the last module of cluster 1, before the 2198-DCBUSCOND-RP312 DC-bus Conditioner Module then, the 2198-CAPMOD-2240 is installed after the 2198-DCBUSCOND-RP312 DC-bus Conditioner Module of cluster 2 connected via the DC-bus conditioner module cable. There is no limit to the number of 2198-CAPMOD-2240 instances except by the available installation space. Each instance of the 2198-CAPMOD-2240 adds to the total system capacitance of the Kinetix 5700 assembly as well as increase energy storage.

The Allen-Bradley 2198-CAPMOD-2240 module is a capacitor module from the Kinetix 5700 series that is manufactured by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation. It is an accessory module for the Allen-Bradley Kinetix 5700 drives, and it is compatible with any drive system from the Kinetix 5700 series that is configured with DC bus power supplies, regenerative bus supplies, or with 8720MC-RPS power supplies.
