The 22-COMM-P is an Allen-Bradley Powerflex component class Profibus adapter. This is classified as a PowerFlex AC drive user-installed option spare part. The adapter is intended for installation on a PowerFlex 40, PowerFlex 40P, or a PowerFlex 400 drive. It serves as a network communication module and it is installed in the DSI External communication kits. The 22-COMM-P features various components including a status indicator which comes with 3 LEDs that indicate the adapter status. The status indicators also function to indicate the network status. These status indicators feature different colors for ease of recognition.
The 22-COMM-P also comes with a DSI connector which is a 20-pin single-row shroud male header. It has a Profibus Connector that is a 9-pin female D sub connector. The 22-COMM-P comes with a Profibus Connector and mode jumpers that select the single mode or the multiple drive mode of operation. A swap jumper is also included which is abbreviated as the jumper, and it determines the Intel or the Motorola SWAP data format for the corresponding PLC. The 22-COMM-P is typically mounted on the Powerflex drives, it is also installed in the DSI external communication kits.
Profibus network is an RS485, serial based communication standard, connected via daisy-chain topology. Up to 32 nodes is supported by One (1) Profibus segment with One (1) master device, managing the Profibus client nodes. The 22-COMM-P is designed for communication rates such as 9.6 kbps, 19.2 kbps, 93.75 kbps, 187.5 kbps, 500 kbps, 1.5 Mbps, 3 Mbps, 6 Mbps, or 12 Mbps.
