The Allen-Bradley 22C-D022N103 is part of the 380 to 480 Volts AC, 3-Phase PowerFlex 400 Adjustable Frequency AC Drive series. It is a cost-effective drive, ideally used for Fan and Pump speed control in variable torque fan and pump applications, and its wide range of built-in features allows quick and seamless system integration. This 11 kW (15 HP) rated panel mount module has a C-size frame and 22 A output current. It comes with an unfiltered emission class and integral keypad with two lines of 16 characters each in addition to its LCD display with LED indicators for easy system configuration and fault status monitoring.

The 22C-D022N103 Adjustable Frequency AC Drive has an embedded Auxiliary Motor Control feature that allows the operation of up to three additional line-started motors, aside from the directly controlled motor. When this functionality is enabled, a feedback and reference signal is used by the PID to adjust the speed of the drive-controlled motor. When the capacity of this initial motor does not meet the product demand, the drive controller automatically starts an auxiliary motor. A continued increase in demand will initiate the start of additional motors until the demand has been met. Similarly, when demand decreases, an auxiliary motor is stopped and the PowerFlex Auxiliary feature boosts drive-controlled motor speed. The 22C-D022N103 Module has an IP20, NEMA/UL open type enclosure for conventional mounting within or outside a control cabinet in a 45 degree Celsius (113 degrees Fahrenheit) ambient temperature zone. This can be upgraded to an IP30, NEMA/UL Type 1 enclosure with an additional top cover and optional conduit box kits. Flexibility in the installation of this module is improved by the UL Plenum rating that allows direct mounting into an air handling system.

The 22C-D022N103 is especially optimized for operation with industrial Fan and Pump application, which are commonly found in Heating Ventillation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC), Water and Waster application, Power Plant, Mining, Manufacturing and may other industries.

The 22C-D022N103 is also known as a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) or Variable Speed Drives (VSD). It delivers modulating speed control by varying frequency, and maintains proportionality with the voltage thus producing a variable speed with constant Torque output thus called Volts / Hertz control method. Aside from the Volts / Hertz control method, the 22C-D022N103 is also capable of Process PID functionality for automatic control of output frequency in reference to the drive’s received process variable and configured setpoint. It is also equipped with different user programmable Starting . Stopping and Idle characteristics such as Flying start, ramp-up, ramp-down, Acceleration, Deceleration, sleep / wake to name a few.

The 22C-D022N103 also comes with a fixed keypad with 2-line, 16-character per line LCD readout, an integral RS485 communication port used for networked connections and remote operation and configuration.

The 22C-D022N103 is energized by an input voltage supply range of 340-528VAC, 3-Phase, input frequency of 48-63 Hz and input current of 23 Amperes. It delivers continour output current of 22 Amperes, 0-460VAC, 3-Phase voltage supply towards the motor while the applicable motor rating for the 22C-D022N103 is 15.0 HP (11.0 KW).
