The Allen-Bradley 22C-D170A103 is part of the PowerFlex 400 Adjustable Frequency AC Drives. This electronic hardware is especially optimized for use in industrial Fan and Pump applications. This adjustable Frequency AC drive is designed with a compact and rugged body, capable of being installed in industrial environment and withstand continuous operation. It is also scalable as it allows installation of additional modules to expand communication, configuration and operational capabilities.

The 22C-D170A103 is used for large motors as it has an output current of 170 Amperes, applicable for motors rated 90kW (125.0 HP). It also delivers an output frequency range of 0-400 Hz and Voltage range of 340-528VAC, 3-Phase.

The 22C-D170A103 delivers control via Volts per Hoertz control method or scalar control method. This control capability provides excellent modulating speed control with constant Torque, enabling the drive to be used in application with Constant Torque applications. It is also capable of Process PID which permits the drive to function as a stand-alone controller for fully automatic control based on the configured setpoint and Process Variable (VFD).

The 22C-D170A103 may also be conventionally connected to a PLC by wiring external signals to the provided embedded input and output channels such as Seven (7) Sink / Source discrete inputs, One (1) Open Output and Two (2) Form C Contacts discrete outputs, Two (2) Analog Inputs compatible for 0-10VDC; 0-20mA and Two (2) Analog output 0-10VDC; 0-20mA.

The 22C-D170A103 should not be mounted any higher than 1000 meters or exposed to temperatures that exceed 113 degrees Fahrenheit or below 14. In storage, this unit must be kept in a temperature zone that is between -40 and 185 degrees Fahrenheit. Additionally, it should not be placed in an area with corrosive vapors, gases or dust. This unit uses a fan as its cooling method.

The 22C-D170A103 has four (4) programmable, three (3) semi-programmable digital inputs, one (1) analog isolated, and one (1) non-isolated analog input. It also has including two (2) programmable C-Form relay outputs, six (6) optionally programmable A-Form relay outputs, one (1) programmable Opto output, and two (2) non-isolated analog outputs.

The 22C-D170A103 has a 32-character LCD display keypad, composed of 2-Lines of display with 16-Character each line. It also contains built-in LED indicators and seven different language settings. (Dutch, Portuguese, Spanish, French, Italian, German, and English).

The 22C-D170A103 communications in a Serial (RS-485) manner, supporting Metasys N2, P1-Floor Level Network (FLN), Modbus RTU, and Drive Serial Interface (DSI) as its standard communication options.
