The Allen-Bradley 22C-D260A103 is an Adjustable Frequency AC Drive that is part of the PowerFlex 400 product family. This drive operates at a Voltage supply range of 380-480VAC, 3-Phase and delivers an output rating of 132.0 kW or 200.0 HP. With these output parameters, this drive is ideal for use with large motors, installed in industrial Fan and Pump application as well as Damper control and Fire and life safety systems. The 22C-D260A103 supports Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) or Volts / Hertz (V/Hz) control as its primary control method for speed modulation. Additionally, it is capable of acting as a stand-alone loop controller provided by the integral Proportional + Integral + Derivative (PID) control capability. It is also capable of controlling auxiliary motors and simultaneously configured with AutoSwap features. These features are commonly used in duplex and Triplex pump systems wherein Duty / Stand-by / Spare pump configuration is implemented. Additionally, with AutoSwap feature, runtime scheduling and distribution can be equally distributed among the cascaded pumps.
The 22C-D260A103 comes with integral RS485 communication interface. It also accepts hardwired electrical signals as it is provided with Two (2) Form C contacts and One (1) optocoupler output; One (1) Unipolar –10…10V or One (1) bipolar 0…10V or 4…20 mA analog inputs and Two (2) 0-10VDC; 0-20mA analog outputs.

It does, however, have an IP30 NEMA/UL Type 1 rating, with a frame size of G. This unit should be placed in a temperature zone of -10 to 45 degrees Celsius, or 14 to 113 degrees Fahrenheit. It has a fan that aids in cooling the module, but the unit should still be kept away from corrosive atmospheres and damaging gases, vapors, or dust. Additionally, the module will begin to derate if mounted at an altitude that exceeds 1000 meters or 3300 feet. One of the features of the 22C-D260A103 is its Auxiliary Motor Control system. This system is designed to improve production efficiency with its automated process; when production demand becomes too great for a single motor to handle on its own, the Auxiliary Motor Control system automatically begins to operate an additional motor in order to keep up with production demand. This system can support up to three auxiliary motors, in addition to the initial, drive-controlled motor. With all four motors operating at full speed, the system’s output can reach up to 400% productivity. In a similar way, when production demand decreases, the system will shut the auxiliary motors off one by one. Another function, AutoSwap, will automatically swap out the motors on a periodic schedule, allowing the initial drive-controlled motor to be switched out for one of the auxiliary motors. The drive will then control that motor until the AutoSwap function switches it again. This will cause all four motors to wear equally. The 22C-D260A103 also has a PID loop built into it, which can maintain a single variable at the user’s set standards and compensate for it through adjustment of the other variables.
