The Allen Bradley 22C-D460A103 Powerflex 400 AC Drive is a Serial (RS485) communication module. While its standard protocols include Metasys N2, Modbus RTU, Drive Serial Interface (DSI), and P1-Floor Level Network (FLN), it always supports the optional, additional protocols LonWorks, ControlNet, EtherNet/IP, PROFIBUS DP, and DeviceNet. Some optional software include Pocket PC/Windows Mobile (2003) and Windows Based. It has a total of nine (9) control inputs and eleven (11) control outputs.

This module has an output rating of 460 Amps at 45 degrees Celsius; at 50 degrees, the Amperage drops to 410. It has a kW 250 and 350 Horsepower output rating, and an input rating of 340 to 528 Volts, 387 kVA, and 465 Amps. With 600 total fuses and a 100-D630 contactor, the 22C-D460A103 dissipates approximately 6167 Watts of Open IP20 power.

This module has a frame size of “H”, fitting into an IP30 NEMA/UL Type 1 enclosure. This module does not contain a Flange mount. Its minimum wire size is 250 MCM (127.0 millimeters squared); the biggest that the wire can be is 500 MCM (253.0 millimeters squared) with a recommended torque of 40.0 N-m (354 pound-inch).

This unit should be kept in a surrounding temperature of -10 to 45 degrees Celsius (or 14 to 113 degrees Fahrenheit) and should be mounted at or lower than 1000 meters (or 3300 feet). Mounting this module any higher will cause the module to derate at 3% per 305 meters. This module is also sensitive to dust and corrosive vapors; do not place it in an area that is often exposed to a gaseous or corrosive atmosphere.

This module’s shock while operating is 15G (at its peak) for an 11-millisecond duration (give or take 1.0 milliseconds). While nonoperational, its vibration peaks at 1G, 5 to 2000 Hertz. The 22C-D460A103 regulates speed using an Open Loop with Slip Compensation system, plus or minus 1% of its base speed. Its programmable stop modes include S-Curve,  DC-Brake, Coast, Ramp, and Ramp-to-Hold.
