The 25-COMM-P adapter is a PROFIBUS DPV1 adapter that is intended to be used with the PowerFlex 520 drives. Both this adapter and the PowerFlex 520 series drives have been designed by Allen-Bradley. The Allen-Bradley 25-COMM-P PROFIBUS DPV1 adapter provides network communications to the PowerFlex 520 drives so that the drives can share data and be connected with different equipment throughout the circuit. This adapter includes different key components such as a node address switch, an endianness selection switch, an adapter-to-drive header, 3 status indicators, CS1 and CS2 terminals, and a PROFIBUS DB9 terminal.

The Allen-Bradley 25-COMM-P PowerFlex 520 PROFIBUS DPV1 adapter includes a parameter configured 16-bit datalink that can meet different application requirements. This parameter consists of 4 datalinks to read data and 4 datalinks to write data. The adapter also includes acrylic messaging support, a multi-drive mode that enables up to 5 drives to share a single PROFIBUS node, and more. The Allen-Bradley 25-COMM-P PROFIBUS DPV1 adapter can be configured in 2 different ways. One way is by using  DIP switches, and the other way is by using adapter parameters. Regardless of the configuration method that is used, each node on the network must have a unique node address. When installing the Allen-Bradley 25-COMM-P PROFIBUS DPV1 adapter, the users must ensure that the environment is static-free, since electrostatic discharge in the adapter might cause irreversible damage to the adapter circuits.
