The Allen Bradley™ PowerFlex 25A-A8P0N104 AC drive has great versatility and an impressive design.  It can be operated with both a standalone machine and with an integrated, computerized control system, for applications as powerful as 30 HP and 22 kW.  With a standardized control module, its removable control and power modules, and a single accessory card, simultaneous configuration and installation are possible. Connectivity to a PC through a standard USB cable can be done with MainsFree™ Configuration.  New settings can thus be easily and quickly downloaded, uploaded, and the flashing of the drive.

To aid in this module’s control performance, it has a number of available motor control options including V/Hz (Volts per Hertz), SVC (Sensorless Vector Control), and PointStop™.  Out of all the options, PointStop™ has the capability of halting a motor load at precise positions without any encoder feedback.  The 25A-A8P0N104 has a number in-built features that optimize its performance, which include two overload ratings. Some of its other features are a PID loop and five digital inputs (four are programmable) that improve application flexibility and versatility, the ability to switch between source control or 24 Volts DC sink through the use of a jumper switch, its limited inrush current via a relay pre-charge, an integral brake transistor with basic low-cost brake resistors, a removable MOV to ground connection for smooth operations when in use in ungrounded distribution systems, and silent operation with an adjustable frequency of up to 16 kHz.

The 25A-A8P0N104 is a B frame drive and has one form C relay output that indicates various motor, logic and drive statuses and conditions.  It can be installed quickly and easily using its DIN rail mounting feature, or by panel mounting.  It is compatible with an optional IP30, NEMA/UL Type 1 conduit box, which is adaptable to the standard IP20 (NEMA Type Open) product.  Through integral filtering, the drive complies in a cost-effective way with the EN61800-3 Category C2 and the C3 EMC requirements, while compliance with EN61800-3 Category C1, C2, and C3 requirements can be ensured through external filters.  Zero Stacking™ is possible at ambient temperatures of up to 45 degrees Celsius to save panel space.  

The 25A-A8P0N104 AC drive communicates with other devices in a variety of ways.  It has an integral RS485/DSI communication system that facilitates its use in a multi-drop network configuration.  By using EDS file creation in conjunction with RSNetWorx™, the drive can be connected to a network.  When improved machine performance is desired, communication cards such as DeviceNet™ or PROFIBUS™ DP can be used.  Its dual-port EtherNet/IP option card is compatible with Device Level Ring (DLR) topologies.  This guarantees fault-tolerant connectivity for maximum drive availability.

The drive has 1-phase input, a 0 to 230 Volt 3-phase output with a power rating of 200 to 240 Volts AC (-15%, +10%).  It has an output current of 8.0 A with a total Watt loss of 81 Watts, while its input voltage range is 170 to 264 Volts. Its output ratings for heavy duty are 2.0 HP and 1.5 kW and for normal duty, are 2.0 HP and 1.5 kW.  It has one unipolar voltage or current analog input which is isolated from all other I/Os and also has 10-bit scalable analog output.  This output can be switched between 0 and 10 Volts or 0 to 20 mA (whichever is suited for metering to other devices or speed referencing) through the use of a jumper switch.
