The 25A-B017N104 is an Allen-Bradley manufactured Adjustable Frequency AC drive. Generally called a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD), Variable Speed Drive (VSD), or an inverter, the primary intended function of this drive is to control industrial AC motor operation including standard On/Off capability as well as rotational speed and Torque. In addition, the 25A-B017N104 may be used as a soft-starter device replacement as the 25A-B017N104 is capable of implementing soft-starter features such as Acceleration, Deceleration, and a variety of Stop modes including Ramp, Coast, DC-Brake, and Ramp-to-Stop. The 25A-B017N104’s speed and torque control by means of Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) technology is generated through a series of circuits such as rectifier, filter, and inverter circuitry. The output PWM can be configured to perform specific control methods such as Volts per Hertz (V/Hz), Sensorless Vector Control (SVC), SVC with economizer. Aside from this, the 25A-B017N104 is capable of being configured as a stand-alone Proportional + Integral + Derivative (PID) controller for automatic control of analog control loops. Primary features of the 25A-B017N104 include input voltage rating of 200-240 VAC, 3-Phase, and input current of 21.1 Amperes. This drive delivers an output voltage of 0-230 VAC, 3-Phase along with an output current of 17.5 Amperes and output power of 5.0 HP or 4.0 kW for both Heavy and normal duty operation. This device has an IP20 / NEMA Type open enclosure in a Frame B hardware code. It has a built-in standard interface module for local configuration, monitoring, and control of the drive. The drive’s dynamic braking capability is provided by the built-in IGBT braking system. Some of the optional modules and accessories that may be installed on this drive include EMC Filter, removable Human Interface Module (HIM), communication interface module among others.

The Allen-Bradley 25A-B017N104 is a PowerFlex 523 series three-phase, 240V AC drives with a B frame size. It has an input voltage range of 170 to 264V AC, a total watts loss of 148 W, and an output current of 17.5 A. At both normal duty and heavy-duty operation, it has an HP rating of 5 and a kW of 4 The input ratings of this drive are 9.6 kVA and 21.1 Amps maximum. This drive also has an output voltage of 0-230V AC. It can be mounted using a DIN rail or panel and has enclosure ratings of NEMA Type IP20, open type. An LCD screen is present on the 25A-B017N104 controller and the LCD is a multi-language human interface module (HIM). This display can show 5 digits and 16 segments, and it has the descriptive QuickView scrolling text feature. It also comes with an integral keypad input. This drive’s modular design lets the user connect drives horizontally or vertically and install a power module and configure a control module simultaneously. Note that the drive has a standard control module used across the entire power range. Its built-in USB port comes with a MainsFree configuration, allowing you to directly connect your control module to a PC using a USB cable and upload, download, or flash the drive with new settings. The I/O wirings present on the 25A-B017N104 drive are 1 analog output, 1 form C relay output, 1 unipolar voltage or current analog input, and 5 digital inputs, with 4 of those inputs being programmable. It also has an embedded Ethernet/IP port but you can also add a dual-port Ethernet/IP option card to this drive. The 25A-B017N104’s overcurrent limit is 200% for the hardware limit and 300% for the instantaneous fault. Its programmable output frequency is 0-500 Hz and its efficiency level is 97.5%. For the I/O wiring, it is recommended to use the 8760/9460 Belden Wire for the analog I/O and PTC and the 9728/9730 Belden Wire for the encoder and pulse I/O, and make sure that the wires have an insulation rating of 300 volts and a temperature rating of 14o F. The 25A-B017N104 is a PowerFlex 523 Adjustable Frequency AC drive. This drive is manufactured by Allen-Bradley and is part of the modern PowerFlex 520 product family. PowerFlex drives, including the 25A-B017N104, are generally called Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), Variable Speed Drives (VSD), Frequency Inverter, and Inverter by most plant personnel. Whichever term is used, it describes an electronic component that is coupled to an AC motor to implement Speed or Torque control. By Speed and Torque Control, the motor can be used in analog control loops and implement multiple points of control aside from basic ON/OFF control. Though ON/OFF control is much simpler to implement, it cannot be used in applications that require high accuracy and efficiency. With modulating control, multiple control strategies can be used to control a specific process according to the varying plant conditions. The 25A-B017N104 is operated when provided with an input supply voltage range of 170-264 Volts AC, 3-phase. It delivers an output current of 17.5 Amperes and output power of 5.0 Horsepower or 4.0 Kilowatts for normal and heavy-duty operation. For configuration, it comes with a standard Human Interface Module (HIM) that permits out-of-the-box configuration and operation.
