The Allen-Bradley 25A-V4P8N104 drive is a PowerFlex 523 series adjustable frequency drive. It can control different types of industrial motors through different control modes. The control modes that the 25A-V4P8N104 adjustable frequency drive supports include the Volts per Hertz control mode and the sensorless vector control mode. The drive’s 1-phase input voltage range is 100 to 120 Volts AC and its 3-phase output voltage range is 0 to 230 Volts AC. The 25A-V4P8N104 adjustable frequency drive can be mounted on a panel inside an IP 20 rated protective enclosure, but it does not have an EMC filtering option.

The 25A-V4P8N104 PowerrFlex 523 AC Frequency Drive by Allen-Bradley is a modularly constructed 120V AC drive with a started interface design and dynamic braking for controlling 0-0.75kW applications. The drive, like most drives in the series, support Zero stacking to maximize space and increase the ambient working temperature, and it allows for easy and convenient configuring via the MainsFree programming. The drive’s operating voltage range is 100-240V AC at 50-60Hz, with a voltage tolerance of -15% / +10%, and a current and power output of 4.8A and 0.75kW, respectively. It has a displacement power factor of 0.98 across the whole speed range with a maximum short-circuit rating of 100,000A (symmetrical) and it offers BUS over-voltage and an under-voltage trip of 405V DC and 190V DC, respectively. The 25A-V4P8N104 provides Class 10 motor overload protection capacity, with an over-current protection at 200% hardware limit and a 300% instantaneous fault, and it offers a power and Logic ride-thru time of 100ms and 0.5s, respectively. The drive controls motors through the Volts per hertz Sensorless vector control and the Sensorless vector control with Economizer which are suitable for closed and open-looped speed regulation applications, with ±1% of the base speed across a 60:1 speed range and ±0.5% of the base speed across a 100:1 speed range control performance. The 25A-V4P8N104’s carrier frequency range is 2-16 KHz, with an output frequency range of 0-500Hz, and a voltage output range of 0 to the rated motor voltage. It has 5 digital control inputs with 24V DC control selectable between Sink and Source control, via a DIP switch setting, and 1 unipolar voltage range of 0-10V DC, and 1 current of 4-20mA, and a 10-bit Analog input with 100K Ohms and 250 Ohms load inputs. It has 1 Form C Relay output with a 3A and 0.5A resistive and inductive rating, and it offers a drive control efficiency of 97.5%. It has an Embedded Ethernet/IP port, with an integral RS-485 communication port, which allows for multi-drop network configuration, and it supports additional DeviceNet, PROFIBUS DP, and Dual Ethernet/IP cards for enhanced network options. The 25A-V4P8N104 has an operating temperature of -20-50o C (-4-122o F), at a relative humidity range of 0-95% without de-rating, and it stored at -40-85o C (-40-185o F) temperature range. It supports both DIN Rail and Screw mounting installation options, and it has a maximum installation and operating altitude of 1000m. The 25A-V4P8N104 weighs approximately 1.6Kg (3.5lb), with a total area of 87mm x 180mm x 172mm (3.4in x 7.09in 6.77in), and it comes in an IP20 NEMA/Open enclosure.

This drive is part of the PowerFlex 520 product family and specifically features an input voltage rating of 85-132 Volts AC, 1-Phase and output specifications of 0-230 Volts AC, 3-Phase; 4.8 Amperes output current and output power of 1.0 Horsepower or 0.75 Kilowatts. This drive is a Frame B drive and capable of a variety of control methods such as Volts / Hertz and Sensorless Vector Control (SVC) which are applicable for speed and torque control.

Aside from control the speed and torque of an industrial AC motor, the 25A-V4P8N104 may also be used to lower energy consumption and implement motor start-up and shutdown protection. This drive comes with programmable start and stop functions, particularly Acceleration, Deceleration, Ramp-up, Ramp-Down and stopping modes including coast to stop, DC brake and Ramp to stop. With these configurable modes, the connected motor is protected from the adverse effect of inrush current while effectively cutting energy consumption.

The 25A-V4P8N104 has an intermittent overload rating of 110% overload capability for up to 60 seconds, 150% for up to 3 seconds for normal duty and 150% overload capability for up to 60 seconds, 180% for up to 3 seconds (200% programmable) for heavy duty operation. This drive has a frequency output of 0-500 Hertz with a typical drive efficiency of 97.5%.

The 25A-V4P8N104 is also provided with integrated I/O channels such as five (5) Discrete Inputs; one (1) Form C Contact outputs; one (1) Analog Input and one (1) analog output. It also has a dedicated potentiometer input wherein a 1-10 Kilo Ohm potentiometer may be connected to serve as the drive’s external speed reference.
