About 25-ENC-1

The 25-ENC-1 PowerFlex 525 incremental encoder is a replacement encoder for the Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 525 adjustable frequency AC drives. The 25-ENC-1 replacement encoder is compatible with all PowerFlex 525 drive frames. The PowerFlex 525 AC drives feature an innovative and space-saving modular blueprint that offers a simplified installation and configuration process. The Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 525 AC drives are incorporated with onboard Ethernet/IP communication features, manual and networked safety options, intuitive software, and the ability to operate at a high ambient temperature. They also offer a wide range of advanced motor control algorithms, including the standard user-definable Volts per Hertz control for low-cost motor control, the high-performance sensorless vector control (SVC) for tighter speed control under varying loads and higher starting torques of up to 200% of the rated torque, and closed-loop velocity control that makes them suitable for applications ranging from simple motor control applications to high-degree torque and speed control applications.

The Allen-Bradley 25-ENC-1 replacement encoder is quadrature (dual-channel) incremental type of encoder, and unlike an absolute type of encoder, it provides accurate speed, distance, and linear position measurement. The 25-ENC-1 replacement encoder is supplied as a factory-assembled package with an encoder cover, side panel HTL/TTL DIP switches, voltage DIP switches, and individually-labelled wiring terminals. The 25-ENC-1 replacement encoder has a voltage rating of 12.0 Volts DC and a current rating of 250 milliamps. It has a quadrature rating of +/-27 degrees at 25 degrees Celsius and a rated duty cycle of +10%. To install the 25-ENC-1 replacement encoder, disconnect the power from the drive, remove the control module’s back cover, attach the 25-ENC-1 replacement encoder to the control module’s back cover and lock it to secure it firmly, and then reattach the module cover to the drive.
