The 1391B-AA22 is an Allen-Bradley product that is a Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) Servo Controller primarily used for Single Axis, Servo controller.

This Servo controller converts the Three-Phase input frequency of 50/60 Hz, to variable AC voltage with a controlled frequency, amplitude and controlled phase. The Servo controller output is proportional to the supplied analog command. This controller output modulates the speed and torque of a connected motor. This servo controller is especially compatible with 1326 permanent magnet AC servomotors that is also made by Allen-Bradley.

All components of the controller are mounted on an open frame which may be accessed with a slide-on cover. The controller’s design is most suitable for panel mounting installation to an enclosure with appropriate climate control components such as a fan or a heater depending on the installation location. The controller itself is installed with a fan to evacuate heat and circulate air from the heatsink.

The installation of this controller requires an Allen-Bradley 1391 isolation transformer to maintain UL listing. Use of 3rd party transformers will void the servo controller’s UL listing.

During active production of this product, the 1391 Servo has Two (2) versions which are Series A and Series B controllers. The mounting and physical dimension of the controller for both versions are identical. Series still supports the feature of a series A controller with improved and enhanced control capability. Furthermore, Series B Logic board can be used with a Series A Controller however, Series A is not recommended for use for a Series B controller. Unwanted operation may occur. The 1391B-AA22 AC Pulse Width Modulated Servo Controller by Allen-Bradley. This product has a compact design primarily designed for controlling the speed and torque of a servo motor in a closed loop positioning system. It is commonly utilized as part of a computer-aided close loop positioning system to control the position and the linear or rotary motion of various parts of an automated system. The nominal BUS output voltage is 300V AC, with 22.5A of continuous output current which peaks at 45A. It has an output power rating of 7.5kW, which also peaks at 15kW. The controller has an input circuit breaker rating of 26A (RMS), and a maximum circuit breaker interrupt rating of 1300A (symmetrical). It has a static gain of 1.5 x the rated motor/RPM, with a form factor of 1.03, and a controller efficiency of 85% (with a minimum load). Its peak output current can be adjusted from 20-200% of the rated motor current (to 90A max), and it has a modulated frequency range of around 2.5 KHz (-+10%). The controller has an operational drift of 0.07RPM/ Deg. Celsius, with zero dead band, and it comes with a heatsink fan, with an integral fan output of 50CFM. The 1391B-AA22 comes with a full load 300V DC power supply, with a transformer which provides 230V AC (3-phase) input power at 50-60Hz, with 35.5V AC (1-phase) control input voltage, and a transformer input tolerance of +10% to -15%. It has a thermal dissipation of 55W and of 275W at 20% and 100% of the controller’s rated power output, and it has an ambient operational range of 32-140 Deg. Fahrenheit at 5-95% non-condensing humidity. It has a maximum operational height of 1000m, without de-rating, and it weighs approximately 28Kg (12.69lb), with approximate dimensions of 19in x 6.2in x 10.64in.
