The Allen-Bradley 150-C108NBR is a soft-starter device that is part of the SMC-3 Smart Motor Controller (SMC). This device is a solid-state equipment that is primarily used to implement safe and efficient start-up and stopping of AC motors. This smart motor controller is capable of implementing Soft-start, Current limit start, Selectable kick-start, Coast-to-rest and Soft-stop modes. For soft-start, configurable start times include 2, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, or 30 seconds; for Current limit start, selectable percentages are 150%, 250%, 350%, and 450% of Full Load Current (FLA); Selectable kick-start times of 0, 0.5, 1.0, or 1.5 s @ 450% FLA and Soft-stop configurations of Off, 100%, 200%, or 300% in reference to the start time setting when wired. Additionally, the 150-C108NBR’s trip class are also configurable to meet the requirement of the plant. Available selection for trip class includes 10, 15 or 20. It also has selectable initial or starting Torque of 15%, 25%, 35%, and 65% of locked rotor torque. The 150-C108NBR operates at an input supply voltage of 200-460VAC, 3-Phase, and voltage frequencies of 50 and 60 Hz while the device’ control Voltage requirement is 24VDC / 24VAC. It may be used with line-connected and Delta-connected motors with varying applicable current and power ratings. With line connected motors, this controller has applicable motor current ratings of 27-108 Amperes, power ratings of 20.0-75.0 HP @ 60 Hz and 30-50 kW @ 50 Hz while for Delta connected motors, applicable motor current ratings is 47-187 Amperes, power ratings of 55-90 kW @ 50 Hz and 20-125 Hp @ 60 Hz.

The Allen-Bradley 150-C108NBR is an SMC-3 soft starter smart motor controller. Its current rating is 108 A and it is a 3-wire controller with Delta compatibility. Its control voltage is 24V AC/DC and input line voltage is 480V 3-phase 50-60 Hz maximum frequency. Its amperage rating is 135 A, its HP rating is 25-75 HP @ 60 Hz, and 30-50 kW at 50 Hz. Its operating temperature range is 23-122 Deg. F and its storage temperature range is -13-167 Deg. F. The non-condensing relative humidity of the 150-C108NBR is 5-95% and its maximum operating altitude is 6562 feet. An IP2X, open-type enclosure is used by the 150-C108NBR controller and its contact configuration is 1 N.O. This controller has DIP switches for setup and configuration of the controller, an LED indicator, a reset button that doubles as a button for quick testing of the controller for faults, an SCR/Run bypass and a rotary switch for a quick and easy motor FLA setup. The applications that make use of this controller include fans, lifts, compressors, pumps, conveyors, chillers, and crushers. The 5 available modes of operation with the 150-C108NBR controller and these are the current limit start, kick start, coast-to-reset, soft start, and soft stop. Several built-in protections are present in this controller and they are SCR/Run bypass, electronic motor overload protection, phase reversal protection, and over-temperature. This controller conducts a test before and during starting to see if there are shorted SCRs. If one or more shorts is detected, the controller will not continue the start and will indicate a fault to avoid possible damage from the phase imbalance. The controller will also trip if the phase imbalance has exceeded the set limits to prevent motor damage. When there is only a single-phase condition, the controller will not attempt to start to protect it from motor burnout.
