The Allen-Bradley Smart Motor Controller with catalog number 150-C25NBR is a smart motor controller from that is part of the SMC-3 family of Soft Starters. This controller features a line Voltage requirement of 200-460VAC, 3-Phase, 50 and 60 Hz and control Voltage requirement of 24VDC / 24VAC.

This controller comes with a pair of auxiliary contacts with rated operational voltage of 250VAC/30VDC and insulation rating of 250VAC. These auxiliary contacts are used to monitor the motor’s Overload and Fault status via terminals 97 and 98 while Normal and Up-to-speed feedback can be received via the terminals 13, 14 Aux 1. These electromechanical relays are rated 250V AC/30V DC with conventional Thermal current of 1 A.

The 150-C25NBR can be configured to implement Five (5) start and stop modes such as Soft Start, Kickstart, Current Limiting, Coast to stop, and Soft-stop. These settings will enable the motor to implement smooth start-up and shutdown sequence along the benefits of greatly reducing inrush current and mechanical stress due to sudden start and stop commands to the motor. Additionally, this motor is equipped with adjustable start times with selectable values of 2, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, or 30 seconds; Starting initial Torque values of 15%, 25%, 35%, and 65% of locked rotor torque; Configurable current limit with available settings of 150%, 250%, 350%, and 450% of full load current; Selectable Kick Start that is 450% of Full Load Current (FLA) with adjustable time options of 0, 0.5, 1.0, or 1.5 seconds; Soft-stop time options of Off, 100%, 200%, or 300% of the start time setting when wired. Additionally, this motor has an Overload Trip class of 10, 15 or 20.

This controller has an ampere rating of 25 A, an input line voltage of 200 to 460 Volts AC, and a frequency of 50/60 Hertz. It also has a Hp of 3.75 for both 200 Volts AC and 230 Volts AC, 7.5 to 15 at 460 Volts AC at 350% starting duty, 3.5 Hp for both 200 Volts AC and 230 Volts AC, and 7.5 to 15 Hp at 460 Volts AC at 450% starting duty. Its compact size at just 45 millimeters wide allows it to be stacked with other controllers to create a modular control system (MCS). This controller has a hold-to-test button that also functions as a reset button to reduce downtimes and to assist when setting up the controller. The LED display present shows RUN, OFF, and fault conditions, with the fault type indicated by the number of flashes made on the LED status indicator. The DIP switches present on this controller allows the user to configure the START/STOP modes and other settings much faster, and the rotary switch simplifies setting up the motor FLA. Applications that use the 150-C25NBR controller include mixers, pumps, chillers, fans, lifts, compressors, conveyors, trolleys, and many others. It also has five start/stop modes of operation, namely soft start, soft stop, coast-to-rest, kickstart, and current limit start. Other features of this controller, particularly for protection, include phase load/open load, phase imbalance, electronic motor overload protection, phase reversal, over-temperature, and shorted SCR.
