The 150-C30NBR is a Smart Motor Controller (SMC) that is part of the SMC-3 Solid-State motor controllers. The SMC-3 product category is part of a bigger motor controller product family which includes SMC Flex and SMC 50 motor controllers. The SMC-3 is particularly catered to serve simpler soft-starting requirements however, the embedded features of the 150-C30NBR, being part of the SMC-3, is more comprehensive compared to other soft-starter brands.

Specifically, the 150-C30NBR SMC-3 Smart Motor Controller is capable of implementing Soft Start, Kickstart, Current Limiting, Coast to stop, and Soft-stop. These features are sufficient to protect the partner motor from the destructive effect of mechanical stress due to sudden Start and Stop actions as well limit inrush current which contributes to lower energy consumption, making the control system more efficient.

The coast-to-stop feature is a feature that is also available to Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) that is used to Stop the motor systematically by releasing Torque and allowing the motor to spin or coast and slowly reduce speed until full stoppage.

The 150-C30NBR particularly features 200-460VAC, 3-Phase, 50 and 60 Hz line voltage requirement and control Voltage of 24VDC / 24VAC. It may also be used with line-connected and Delta-connected motors. With line-connected motors, it delivers an output current range of 10-30 Amperes, and output power range of 3.0-20 HP; 15kW while for Delta connected motors, the controller delivers 14.3-43 Amperes, 22 Kw and 10-30 HP.

The 150-C30NBR also provides protection against excessively high temperatures by managing the temperature of the SCR using an internal thermistor, and it can provide programmable motor overload protection through current transformers on each of the 3-phases. The 150-C30NBR has a power circuit with inline inputs of 200-480V AC, and 30A, and it offers 600V AC of insulation voltage, 6KV impulse voltage, 1400V reverse voltage, 2,200V AC dielectric withstand, and a DV/DT protection of 1000V/ µs. It also has a control circuit with a logic control voltage of 24V AC/DC, and 250V voltage insulation, 1500V AC dielectric withstand, and 2500V impulse voltage. The 150-C30NBR has a 250V AC auxiliary contact with a 250V insulation voltage, and 2.5KV impulse voltage, and it has an electromagnetic control, with 1A, 240V AC, normally-open (N.O.) relay contact. The controller’s internal circuitry is fused with a Class J/L/CC 60A fuse with 70KA fault limit a 110A K5 fuse and a 110A thermal magnetic circuit breaker with a 10KA standard fault limit. The 150-C30NBR has 19W maximum power loss when operational, and it is designed to function at a temperature of -5-55 0C at 5-95% humidity without condensation. It has an operational shock resistance of 15G and a vibrational resistance of 1G, and it can be used at a maximum height of 2000m (6560ft) without de-rating. The 150-C30NBR is built to meet UL, EN/IEC, and CSA standard requirements, and is c-UL, CE, CCC, and CSA certified. It has an open enclosure, with an IP2X environmental rating.
