The Allen-Bradley 150-C60NBR is a Soft Starter device from Allen-Bradley. It is a Solid-state controller that is part of the SMC-3 Smart Controller product family. This controller is typically used to minimize the effect of start-up and stopping stress to the motor, mostly electrical and mechanical in nature. This device is coupled to an AC motor to implement selectable starting and stopping methods such as Soft Start, Kickstart, Current Limiting, Coast to stop, and Soft-stop.

The 150-C60NBR features a rated operational voltage of 200-480VAC with tolerance range of -15% and +10% for UL/CSA/NEMA and 200…480V AC — 400V AC for IEC while the rated insulation voltage is 600 VAC for UL/CSA/NEMA and 500VAC for IEC as well. The 150-C60NBR motor controller may be used with line-connected and Delta-connected motors. It has a maximum output current of 60 Amperes with Open type enclosure. Available starting and stopping modes to this controller are Soft Start, Kickstart, Current Limiting, Coast to stop, and Soft-stop. These modes are provide with additional selectable parameters such as 2, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, or 30 Seconds for start times; 15%, 25%, 35%, and 65% of locked rotor torque for starting Torque; 150%, 250%, 350%, and 450% of full load current for Current limiting; 0, 0.5, 1.0, or 1.5 s for Kick Start and Off, 100%, 200%, or 300% of the start time setting when wired for Soft-stop feature.

It offers 4 operational control modes: the Soft start, the Current Limit start, the Kickstart, and the Current Limit start. The 150-C60NBR also offers motor overload protection through current transformers pre-installed on each phase, and it protects against excessively high temperatures by managing the temperature of the Silicon Control Rectifier (SCR) using an internally-built thermistor. The controller’s power circuit inline input voltage is 200-480V AC at 50-60Hz, with an input current of 60A. It has a dieelectric withstand rating of 2,200V AC, 1400V of reverse voltage, 6KV of impulse voltage with Category III overvoltage protection, and a 1000V/µs DV/DT protection.
